Whether it’s decluttering your home, streamlining your workspace, cleaning out your car, emails or creating a system that actually works for your busy life, 2025 can be the year you finally get it together. If you’ve felt overwhelmed or unsure where to start, don’t worry-I’ve got you covered with practical tips and must-have products to help keep you on track. Identifying The Pain Point
For many of us, the biggest challenge isn’t organizing-it’s staying organized. the clutter builds up, we forget where we’ve put things, or our storage solutions just don’t fit our lifestyle. Sound familiar? Maybe you’re tired and you let things sit around, toss them in a junk drawer or shove in a closet with the mindset “I’ll get to that later”, but later never comes. Is this you? Let’s tackle this head-on with simple, actionable steps.
Step 1: Start Small
The thought of organizing your whole life can be overwhelming, that’s not what this blog is about, so calm down, breathe…. Let’s just begin with one area that bugs you the most right now as you’re reading this. It could be your kitchen utensil drawer, kitchen cabinets, your closet, your car, your shed, garage, or even your email inbox. Yep. I spent a good hour on my computer cleaning up all of my junk emails. You can’t delete them quite the same on your phone, it’s easier online and you can bulk delete lots of junk mail all at once. Talk about liberating!

Step 2: Declutter with Purpose
Sounds obvious right? Take a moment to evaluate what you actually need. Ask yourself: “Do I use this? Does it make my life easier?” If the answer is no, it’s time to let it go. Donate, sett or responsibly recycle items that you no longer need. I typically donate because I love knowing someone else can use the item and benefit from something that is in good condition.

Step 3: Tame the Junk Mail
Oh yes we live in an email era, but junk mail still exists and you have to tame it every time you get the mail. Physically mail can quickly pile up, leading to cluttered countertops and unnecessary stress. (no you are not going to look at it later. No you don’t need that coupon ). Make this year the year you take control of your inbox and mailbox-both physical and digital. When you get the mail, physical mail, do you need it now? No- trash it. I literally stand over the trash/shredder and discard immediately. Invest in a shredder here: ????
- Opt Out of Junk Mail: Use services like the National Do Not Mail list or DMAchoice to reduce unsolicited advertisements.
- Create a Mail Sorting Station: Designate one area in your home for sorting mail. Have separate bins for “To Do”, “To File” and “Recycle” or “Shred”.
- Go Paperless: Whenever possible, switch to e-bills and digital statements to reduce the amount of physical mail you receive.

Step 4: Crate Zones
Organize spaces by purpose. For example, designate “Grab-and-go” section by your front door, entryway for essentials you needs quickly, bags, coats, gloves, boots, etc. In your home office, keep separate zones for work tools, printer, paper, white boards and supplies.
Organize under you sinks either kitchen or bathroom. Purchase sliding or stackable organization bins to help you see what’s under the sink.
Organize your garage in sections for seasonal items like holiday, bikes, helmets, hoses, tools, etc.
If you live in a multi-story home you can keep a basket by the stairs for items that need to go to the next floor. This keeps items tidy, and you can easily grab the basket up and down as need vs.
Step 5: Go Digital
Paper clutter is a major source of frustration for many. Consider digitizing important documents or keeping a digital calendar to streamline your to-do lists. You can even use your phone reminders and calendar to keep you organized. Use your phone as a tool and dictate notes to remind yourself appointments, tasks and grocery lists.

Step 6. Maintain The Sytem
This is key. We get excited when we start a new project don’t we? We’re all ready, set, go-got it, done. But once we’re done, do we actually maintain the system. One slip turns into a week, month, year and next thing you know you’re back to be cluttered and stressed. Not this time. Not in 2025.
The best way to stay organized is to make it part of your routine. Train you family members too. This is a household projects. It takes a village. Set the ground rules and let everyone know what they are and the expectations to maintain the systems.
Set aside five to ten minutes daily to tidy up your space, that’s all it really takes. Put items back where they belong and reassess if your plan is working.
Summary
Getting organized doesn’t have to be a massive undertaking. By starting small, decluttering with a purpose, taming junk mail and investing in tools that make your life easier, you’ll be well on your way to a more organized and stress-free 2025.
