Do you crave water or do you dread drinking it? Well, if you’re anything like me, you actually love it. Nothing quenches my thirst than a nice glass of cold water. If that’s not you grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat about it in your comfiest chair.

So let’s start with the boring facts about water and our bodies. If you knew your body depended on water, would you be more diligent about drinking it? Our bodies are pretty awesome and they function with or without our help (to a degree). Do you want to know if you’re dehydrated? Check by pinching the back of your hand and watching your skin return to normal. Did go back quickly or slowly? Did it hold the pinch mark? If the latter two, you’re most likely dehydrated.
A few more facts. How much water do we need daily to keep our organs healthy? For women, it’s about 2.7 liters per day and men 3.7 liters per day. This is without any form of exercise. So for us Americans your visual it’s about 1/2 gallon for women and 3/4 gallon for men.
What if you’re active and sweat? Fitness is your lifestyle. Then you’ll need to add more, 8oz-16oz more, at least. It will depend on how much you exerted yourself. That’s why while you workout it’s imperative that you drink during the workout. There’s a cute Stanley 1913 just waiting to join you in the gym!
It’s funny how we can trick ourselves if drinking water isn’t our favorite thing to drink. We can get water in various drinks, coffee, tea, lemonade, but those drinks are not the same as straight up crystal clear h2o. That’s what we’re talking about here.
If you like water, then how about switching up the glass or container you’re drinking out of? You can buy so many beautiful colorful drinkware that can be game changers. Seriously. It’s a mindset. How cute is this container I’m drinking out of right now? Selfie time?
Do you like straws, handles, pop off lids, no lid, slider lids? Tall, short, round, thick (not talking about your dating type). What if you started a new collection of drinkware for yourself. Could that keep you motivated? I think the answer is yes, step one. Think lifestyle.

What if you had drinkware for your home, office, gym, weekend, outings. You get the picture. Or, at the very least, what if you just had choices, new choices in you kitchen cabinet to pour your water into? Can you imagine these beauties in your cabinets? So many choices!

There are many natural ways to add flavor to water if you’re one of those who struggle with the plain taste of water. Our goal is to make this a lifestyle. Let’s have some fun with it. Adding, natural flavor is the only option that will count as water intake. The flavor packets would not offer the same benefit your body needs. It has to work to remove those ingredients first in order to utilize the benefit of the water, so why not help your sister/brother out here?
Next, if you want flavor in your water, add it. There are so many ways to add zing to water. Try slicing lemons in quarters, remove the seeds and squeeze into your fabulous Stanley. Slice cumbers leave the skin on. The longer the cucumbers soak, the more flavorful the water.
Next, strawberries when in season, will deliciously sweeten you water and plop in a few blueberries.
The zest of lime taste can bring the freshness into your day with every sip. Just slice and soak in your cup.
And for that classic citrus taste, you cannot go wrong slicing a fresh orange into your cup.
Perhaps planning your water by making a head of time in a pitcher is a great lifestyle habit. Leave the container in the refrigerator overnight. This will allow the flavors to soak into the water. Keep the rinds on all the fruit.

Let’s talk about alkaline water and water with electrolytes. Electrolytes (alkaline minerals) can potentially help keep the amount of water in the body in balance. Remember we’re 80% water so it’s key to have these minerals in the body to assist carrying impulses to the nerves and help make our muscles contract and relax. They also help the body in becoming too acidic or alkaline. These are more readily available than ever, just look for SmartWater or Essentia Water. Read the label and try to incorporate this type of water in your daily intake more often. Especially if you’re active. Your body will thank you.
So as I pay homage to the inventor of 100 year old, Stanley 1913 brand. May drinking more water from a plethora of cup styles keep you well hydrated until your triple digit days!
